For countless generations before the swamp area along a ridgeline in the central Blue Mountains became the backyard of a roadside inn and thereafter the sports fields of a private school, this ground was used and cared for by Aboriginal people.

Today the Woodford Academy and the adjacent reserve are protected by the National Trust and local council respectively. Together they take a proactive approach to acknowledging the shared cultural heritage of this place.

The challenge for us in interpreting the Woodford Reserve was to build upon the foundations already in place to present this shared heritage to both visitors and locals alike.
